Who, according to the New York Times (October 29, 2000), believes that "the jury is still out" on evolution, and moreover, the Times reports, he "doesn't really care about that kind of thing."
Go on, guess.
President Bush ll ?
Posted by: peter at April 22, 2003 08:51 PMSee while that sounds really stupid, if Bush is highly religeous, it makes a lot of sense. Whether evolution is the cause of us, or not I guess really depends a lot on how religeous you are.
I'd put money on the fact that you'll find lots and lots more people who don't believe in it, and I'd reckon a lot of those to be religeous.
At the end of the day you've got many theories on creation jostling for position. Which do you most believe in?
Posted by: phil at April 24, 2003 05:08 PMThere is a substantial difference between disagreeing over whether, e.g. punctuated equilibrium or micro-evolution is a more accurate model and the Shazaam!! creationist point of view. Carrying one's religious beliefs into one's societal behavior is one thing. Where those beliefs, unconstrained by any rational evaluative processes, are imposed on scientific investigation they have a great potential to harm all mankind.
Unfortunately, in this particular case, we see the same lack of rigorous thought processes applied to other areas (The answer is tax cuts. Now what was the question?)
Posted by: Jon at April 25, 2003 02:34 PMGeorge W. Bush went to Harvard, which is more than most of us on here did.
W.
Gee - I really believe he earnt his place there on pure genius.
What did he major in? Geography? Middle-east studies? Or something really meaningful like American 'History'?
Posted by: Alex at April 28, 2003 11:14 AMIt was a MBA from Harvard Business School. Following a first degree from Yale.
Many seem to make the mistake of underestimating GWB's intelligence.
W.
Posted by: Wally at April 28, 2003 08:14 PMYes, Wally, some people credit him with having any intelligence at all - a gross over-estimation.
Posted by: Dr K at May 3, 2003 10:57 AMHi great comments, but ..............
was it Mr Bush ?
Peter
Yeah, it was George W Bush Jr. Does the 'W' stand for 'Wally' in any sense of the word?
