Despite what you think, today is not St G's day. Apparently Saint's days are not celebrated for one week either side of Easter, so next Monday will be St G's day.
I'm with the Today program - England should have a patron saint who at least visited the country, if not someone who was born there. Or, as a very minimum, one who could speak English.
