Sunday, April 27: See yesterday
Sorting out computers is tedious. And, of course, when you do finally work out what's wrong it seems obvious. But checking for viruses first and then all the rest of it takes time, since motherboard failure is probably least likely. Anyway.
John calls round this evening to collect the patient and the new modem I picked up for him yesterday. The machine will probably be fine for a while, but he needs a new one for the office anyway so we browse through the Dell site for a while. As long as you go for a Pentium 4 - whatever's cheapest - and 512MB of RAM, there are some bargains to be had. Their 17" CRT screens are good and cheap and €1,000 will buy something worthwhile.
