The Rocail in Anduze is so cheap I reckon they'd make more money if they stopped charging for the food. Or something like that, anyway.
We lunch there today with a couple of Mrs K's clients and Jan - Alex is off chauffeuring his builder around (that's how rich builders are in these parts, they employ rich English people to drive them about).
So it's the chef's salad - lettuce, radish, onion and a tastily salty vinaigrette - followed by steak and chips then a slice of Camembert, all for €6. Good grief. Nice bread, too, not just regular baguette but tasty pain de campagne.
On into Nimes this afternoon for a lecture about Eugene Oneguine, the Tchaikovsky opera being performed in the Théâtre de Nimes on Sunday. And very interesting it is too, although I'm the youngest person in the audience by about 40 years. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it does make me feel very lucky to be able to take afternoons off to go to things like this.
