Friday, May 9: Getting better and slower

Daisy's improved greatly, thanks to all those who've asked. She's much slower than before but then she's getting on now. And she's not a massive fan of the hot weather either. She was going to go out with Mrs K and Lynne to the pool place, market and gee-gee shop this morning but I decide she'll be better off resting at home. And she seems to agree.
I pop out to the market in St Hippo and pick up some salads and strawberries. Mme Lebrun sells me a kilo of the fantastic gariguette strawberries M. Lebrun has been growing over the hills and not to far away. Really, really delicious.
Ham pitta bread sandwiches and lettuce and ginger salad for lunch. I love those waffer-thin slices of ginger you get with sushi and while I've been tempted by the one kilo sacks they sell at the Chinese supermarket in Nimes, I'm not sure I could manage a whole kilo on my own. Then Carrefour, in one of its regular fits of selling "Wow! Look at the weird stuff they eat abroad!" food turns up a 100 gram bag of the stuff. And it turns out to go very well with smoked salmon and in green salads, too. Recommended.
The pool's clearing up nicely, although the water's still only at 17 degrees. Centigrade, mind you, but still pretty chilly. Good grief.
