Tuesday, June 3: At last

The builders turn up nice and early this morning. After appropriate amounts of teeth-sucking and questions about 'Who did this for you, mate?' over the roof, they get down to work with a pneumatic drill and what feels like extra sacks of dust especially blown in for the occasion. Ah, the joys of living on a building site.
Still, the work progresses well and they've done all they can today by 2.30 so head off for an early bath. Daisy is unimpressed by the new small wall covering the entrance to the ramp down to the garden. She's going to be even less impressed when she finds that the ramp has gone all together. In fact, we're all going to miss the ramp which is very, very handy for dragging shopping and baggage into and out of the house. But it's just so bloody ugly that it has to go.
I get the wireless network going again so I can sit downstairs while the builders are making a noise outside my office. I wonder if it's really worth turning on WEP since the signals barely get out through the walls of the house, let alone as far as the nearest road. We can barely see the nearest road from here, let alone get a wireless signal to it.
