Wednesday, June 4: Building up

The roof looks very impressive now, like a giant version of those things you hold under your chin to tan the underside of your nose. With lots of bubbles in it, too. And, apparently, it's completely waterproof now, which is a bonus.
The steps outside my office have come up a treat. The PO covered them up and replaced them with the world's ugliest ramp. He was a builder, though, so that explains it.
I spend the afternoon steaming radiators so we can then paint them white. They've all been painted some very bizarre colours including black and pink. Like I say, the PO was a bit weird. No, that's not fair - to weird people. He was f-ing mad.
Saxophone lesson tonight. Françoise is determined that we'll be performing La Valse Triste at the music festival next week, even though it's demonstrably crap. And it's not just the way I play it either, it sounds crap when she plays it and she knows what she's doing. Still, it's difficult to play so I'll be treating it as a challenge. As will the ears of any listeners unfortunate enough to tune in.
We're not just playing that, either, oh no. This will be a veritable concert - Mack the Knife (which I love playing, thank goodness), Oh When The Saints (more tosh), Yellow Submarine (it'll never catch on in the discos) and some more French rubbish, La Roulotte. Which is almost fun to play but still sounds crap.
